Hello world! This is Terran Chen; the baby that you see plastered all over this blog. Since this blog was created to tell the story of my birth and life (so far), I thought it was about time for me to add my two cents. Plus, it seems that my parents haven't been very conscientious about updating the blog. Good thing they take care of a baby better than they take care of a blog.
It might come as a shock to all of you that a twelve week old baby could write a blog entry, but as everyone says, kids grow up so fast! I remember back to the days when I first started laughing and making eye contact with mama and baba (just a few weeks ago but to a twelve-week old, weeks are an eternity). And now look at me...I'm a blogger!
If that wasn't enough, yesterday morning I was able to do the old number 1 in my little toilet, with some help from my mama, just like a grown-up. The pictures below are proof pudding (half-naked baby pictures alert everyone). Now mind you, I'm not the sort of baby that flaunts his stunning physique all over the internet, but I just had to show off my new talents. Don't go selling the pics to the tabloids folks.
Concentrating Hard... Taking my time... Success and happiness!
So far life has been great! Since mama and baba both work, I spend my days with my nainai - that's Chinese for my grandmother on my dad's side. She does all the usual stuff - feeds me, changes my diapers, puts me down for naps - but she does a lot of really fun stuff, too! Nainai sings to me, speaks to me in Chinese, and reads English books to me in Chinese. My absolute favorites right now are "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?", "Baby's First Words", and "Baby's First Animals." The pictures in them are so cool! Soon I'll be able to identify a monkey at the zoo in both English and Chinese. That will be awesome!
Here's a list of other stuff that I love so far about this big, beautiful world:
- Hanging out and chilling with my mama and baba. They better enjoy this because once I get older, I might not be caught dead with them. That's called being a teenager.
- Going to Simone's in Pilsen to eat. Located a couple blocks from our home so I don't have to ride in the car which I strongly dislike, great outdoor seating so that mama can walk me around if I get fussy, solar panels on the roof so I can enjoy a clean earth when I grow up, and great cans of beer according to my baba which I'll take his word for since I can't legally drink yet.
- Drinking lots and lots of breast milk. I don't need any beer anyhow because my beverage of choice is still breast milk. Can't beat a good drink of mama's breast milk...yum!
- Messing up my parents clothes, couch and floor with puke and drool. Every baby worth their salt should be able to projectile vomit and drool like a running faucet.
- Mood swings. Going from laughing really hard to crying really hard in about 0.01 seconds flat.
- Sumo wrestling. I actually have never done this. But my Aunt Ann always calls me a little sumo, so I am sure its something I will like.
- Watching football on TV. My parents typically do not watch TV but the flashing colors caught my eye for the first time when the Bears' season began last Sunday. However, baba's loud noises often startle me. I don't know if he is happy or mad when he yells out words I don't understand.
- Generating a lot of body heat. Sometimes I get so hot and sweaty my baba calls me Baby Torch cause I'm hot to hold. Maybe its a superpower, which would be really sweet!
- Sunlit walks in the stroller. Puts me to sleep like a baby every time. Which is good because mama says I need five hours of napping everyday. Nap helps a growing boy grow.
Love it! He is such a precious little chunk!
ReplyDeleteUnder favorite activities, you forgot Baba balancing me on one hand like a circus clown.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! What a cutie. I can't wait to have a turn holding him soon!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if he actually likes it when I balance him on one hand. He doesn't cry when I do it so that's a good sign. We'll ask Terran to post about that next time.
